California Backyard Give-A-Tree program collecting donated holiday trees for Salvation Army Christmas assistance program
SACRAMENTO- California Backyard, a local company which specializes in selling high performance outdoor products, will kick off its eighth annual “Give-A-Tree” Christmas tree donation collection, starting November 4. The four California Backyard stores in the Sacramento region (Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Roseville and Sacramento) will collect any donated artificial Christmas trees from customers until December 17.
All of the donated trees will be distributed to families receiving Christmas assistance from The Salvation Army of Sacramento County and South Placer County. Last year, more than 600 trees were distributed, and since 2009, more than 4000 trees have been collected because of the campaign.
“California Backyard is proud to partner again with The Salvation Army for the annual Give-A-Tree donation campaign,” said Buzz Homsy, owner of California Backyard. “I’ve seen it first-hand how these donated trees can make a difference and bring joy to so many families. I hope we can get even more donations this holiday season.”
For each customer who donates an artificial Christmas tree, California Backyard will give an additional 10% off the sale price of a pre-lit Everfresh tree. All stores will accept tree donations, but the tree itself must be in a box with no missing parts.
"The Give-A-Tree program has been such an asset to what we do during the Christmas season,” said Major Ivan Wild, Salvation Army Divisional Commander. “We want to thank California Backyard and the entire Sacramento community for their support. These donated trees will add so much more the holiday experience for the families we’re assisting this Christmas.”
